Day Five: Snapshots of Strength

After surviving a stroke, I found myself relearning how to navigate the world, not just physically but emotionally and creatively. In my recovery, I rediscovered a quiet, beautiful way to reconnect with life: Polaroid photography. Sure, it's a throwback to what was once popular. Still, there’s something profoundly healing about holding a camera, as shaky as my hand can be, listening to the soft click of a button, and watching a special moment slowly develop in your hands.
In this post, I want to share a personal poem I wrote — a reflection on how capturing simple, everyday moments with my Polaroid has become a powerful form of expression and strength.
For me, this isn’t just about art. It’s about documenting recovery, honouring resilience, and finding joy in the little things.
If you’re on your healing journey, I hope this piece reminds you that there is beauty in the comeback—not every day is a good day, but kudos to you for trying!
In trembling hands,
I hold the light.
My Polaroid camera,
My daily fight.
Each click a triumph, each frame a claim,
Capturing moments — never the same.
The stroke slowed time, reshaped my grace,
Yet healing found a sacred place.
Through instant photography, I speak anew,
In colours bold, in skies of blue.
I chase the light on quiet days,
In fleeting scenes and golden haze.
Each photo tells what words forget —
A soul not lost, a life reset.
The gentle whirr, the photo released,
An image, a moment, a snapshot of peace.
No filters here, no edits made,
Just raw, real light and gentle shade.
Polaroid art, my quiet grace,
A picture of life's steady pace.
When memories fade and uncertainty rises,
Polaroids capture unlikely surprises.
