Day Seven: The Gratitude List

Celebration Day

Yay. We made it to Day Seven of 'Finding Beauty in the Every Day'.

That’s a big deal—congratulations!

For the past three and a half years, I've made it a habit to reflect on my day and jot down the little things I’m grateful for—those small moments that might otherwise slip by unnoticed.

What I’ve come to understand is this: gratitude is a practice of “and,” not “or.”

You can feel angry, helpless, hopeless, sad, overwhelmed, or just plain exhausted—and still be grateful. You can still recognize and appreciate the simple, mundane, beautiful, triumphant moments that unfold in your everyday life. Why?

Because they all matter.

They matter because you've been through hell and back—and you’re still here to tell the story.

They matter for your mental health. Your confidence. Your self-worth. Your self-acceptance (I’m still working on this one).

All of it matters, dear reader, because you matter. Your story matters. Your life matters.

Your feelings matter, too—because your chapter isn’t over yet. Whether you realize it or not, you’re a walking testimony. In case you needed the reminder.

So if you ever find yourself wondering, “What do I even have to be grateful for?”—know this: your feelings are valid. And also know this—your gratitude practice isn’t about either/or.

You can feel the heaviness and still train your mind to look for the good in everyday life—the moments we often overlook or take for granted.

So to celebrate today, I want to focus on four things you're grateful for.

I’ll go first:

• I'm grateful for being able to walk unassisted to pick up my kids from school.

• I'm grateful for a day off to pour into my blog and make it even better.

• I'm grateful for a simple dinner tonight—30-minute meals for the win!

• I’m grateful for the comfort of my warm house, a hot shower, and a cozy cup of tea. That might technically be three-in-one, but today, they all feel like one big hug, and I’m thankful for every bit of it.

Your turn.

I’m grateful for…

I'm feeling grateful for:

1-early mornings for quiet reflection and intention-setting,

2-fun music to listen to on the way to work,

3-feeling seen and understood,

4-my beautiful book collection that I often turn to for guidance and inspiration.
